I think you are on the right track, Laura. It gave way to LIFE for when we were young- really young- we had nothing to keep us back but ourselves. Now Life had added so much to our plates that it gets put on the back burner. BUT- sometimes it comes…

Interesting debate you started Andrea! I think words can be very successfuly incorporated into art, in various ways. Sometimes the shock value of words which seem to "jar" against a particular image can give a whole new insight. Yes, the poetry th…

News & Challenges

WHATS ON THIS MONTH

This month we will be looking at Figurative Art - Figurative Art has changed dramatically since the introduction of The Abstract into the art world and for this reason we will be exploring Pablo Picasso as our Main Feature Artist this month, and our Monthly Challenge - The Photography Thread will be exploring interests between realism and abstract through looking at one Image 2 different ways - and the Illustration Thread will be exploring the world of Figurative Faerie in the first half of the month, and in the second the relationship between words and Figurative Illustration

~Pablo Picasso - 5 October 1881 – 8 April 1973 - This month we will be exploring Pablo Picasso and the impact he had on the Artistic World. The monthly challenge will be Picasso driven - We will be painting or drawing a Self Portrait or Figurative Composition styled from one of the artistic periods of Picasso's life; his Early Days - Blue Period - Rose Period - Cubism or Late Period. The choice will be totally up to you. Details can be found in the Monthly Challenge Forum
Over the next couple of days the information on Picasso will start to appear on site - There will be an Artist Bio with pictures of his paintings - We have gathered some interesting documentaries that are available for you to watch in the Study Hall group HERE. There will also be various links offered for you to explore at your own pace and interests popping up through the month.
Picasso was the Father of Modern Art - People don't always like his work or the man, but there is no denying the impact he had on the Artistic world. This is an opportunity to learn a little more and explore a painting style that may feel foreign, but a style that paved the way for the creative freedoms we experience today.
